Organizations Working Together to Support State Action to Attract and Retain Outstanding Educators

The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC),  Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA), Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB), and Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) have been working jointly to develop a vision for state action to attract and retain outstanding educators who reflect the students in our classrooms.

Towards that end, the organizations have developed an outline of strategies worthy of consideration as part of comprehensive action to address the educator workforce.  The outline includes strategies related to Pathways to the Profession, Induction and Professional Learning, Leadership and Advancement, Compensation and Working Conditions, and Educator Diversity.

On September 19, the organizations convened a meeting with K-12 and higher education stakeholders to discuss which strategies have the greatest potential to positively impact Wisconsin’s educator pipeline.  The organizations identified areas of mutual interest and committed to continue meeting to develop a shared set of strategies they can collectively advocate for.

Organizations represented included the Universities of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions, Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, Wisconsin Council for Administrators of Special Services, and, Wisconsin Association of School Personnel Administrators.
