Contact Your Legislator Today on AB 1050/SB 955 to Provide Continued Funding to Maintain the Operations of the Office of School Safety

AB 1050/SB 955 will fund the continued operations of the Wisconsin Office of School Safety (OSS) through September 2025. This funding extension will allow the OSS to continue its work to proactively assist schools, prevent violence from occurring, mitigate trauma, and respond effectively if a crisis event does occur to promote recovery. Continued funding is needed as the OSS was not funded in the 2023-25 budget.  The program has successfully promoted safety but needs funding to support this important full-time program.

  • OSS has become a critical resource for students, teachers, school administrators, and education communities throughout Wisconsin, with the intent to prevent violence in schools.

  • OSS is a proven effective tool in preventing violence and other potential threats in our schools.

  • It is critical that schools, educators, and students continue to have access to these important resources and encourage the legislature to provide long-term sustainable funding solutions to support this work for our schools.

This legislation could pass the Assembly next week, and it is critical that Senators work with their colleagues to advance this bill to the Governor’s desk this session.
